CD Replication - A Beginners Guide To CD Replication

So what is CD replication exactly? Well CD replication is a process whereby a CD master is pressed into many CD copies, which is usually for more than a 500 copies or more. It is the most professional way to produce your CD for marketing to your future or existing customers.

Companies that can provide you with CD replication services can usually also provide you with professional packaging options for your CD product. They can provide you with a finished product with the CD inside jewel cases and the CD cover placed inside the jewel case. The CD replication companies usually automate this process, alternatively they can supply you with the CDs in bulk and you can put them in the jewel cases and add the CD covers yourself as this would get the cost of production down for you. The drawback of doing this of course is that it is fiddly and time consuming to do but is an option if your budget is tight.

CD replication can be done for audio CDs or CDROM if your project is a data or software product. With CD replication there is a setup cost involved which is for a glass master which is used to produce the CD copies from.

Alternatively if you are looking to produce less than 500 copies then you may want to consider CD duplication which is explained here
